Franklin (Wells) was born in 1831 in Ohio. After moving to Steuben County, he looses his father when he is just 10 years old and then his mother at 17. He is listed on the 1850 census living with G.W. Wickwire where Franklin is working as a farmer. On this same census page, we find his brothers Dexter, David and Ezekiel all living in the surrounding farms. His sister is married and living next door. Between the 1850 census and the 1860 census, Franklin heads to Wisconsin where he marries Martha Miller. They have five children who are all born in Wisconsin.

In the 1880 census Franklin is living back in Steuben County with his brother Ezekiel and David W. and in 1900 census he lives with his sister-in-law Mary(Clark) and his sister Sophronia. He passes away in 1906.
